1978, Moyenne cible : Déclic Since 1977 targets had been the main theme of his paintings. Like the archer who, according to Zen Buddhism, aims at himself, the painter aims at finding his inner self in his works. In this Targets series, using varied formats, Mennessons experimented diverse coloured spaces. Here there is a grey camaïeu, starting from a medium grey triangle in the centre, which generates concentric shapes, with various angles, ending in dark shades of grey in the 4 corners, from which the eye is drawn back to the centre, to the innermost self.
